Leavenworth Fall Foliage

Looking for a special place for those weekend getaway, take Highway 2 from Seattle to enjoy the abundant fall foliage along Tumwater Canyon to Leavenworth and beyond.  The trees in yellow, orange and red show off their fall splendor in Lake Wenatchee just north of the village. From I-90 east, head toward Cle Elum and onto Highway 97 and over Blewett Pass from a spectacular view of the fall leaves.  Jesse Tam, a year round city with summer time fun to Holiday lights in December.

About two hours east of Seattle lays the small Bavarian village of Leavenworth filled with mountain splendor and Northwest recreation. This small town is jam packed with fun all year round, from festivals to great beer, food and plenty of other attractions but really shines in the fall with foliage.  There are plenty of activities for the family from hiking, spa, shopping, variety of food, mini golf, movies and arcades.

Leavenworth can be enjoyed in just a day, most visitors will want to extend their stay through a weekend or longer. There is an array of lodging selections with most hotels being Bavarian-themed.  It is known for beer but it is also a great place for wine lovers with many nearby wineries and wine tasting rooms.  Bavarian Bistro and Bar on Front Street is where you can enjoy classic German cuisine or the for a coffee and a freshly baked gingerbread cookie at the Gingerbread Factory.   https://jessewa28.wordpress.com/

First Day of Autumn

The First Day of Autumn - changing landscapes, leaves on the lawn, pumpkins in the field and colors abound, Jesse Tam.  The favorite season fills the crisp fall air with cooler temperatures. The season when fall leaves transform from green to hues of yellow, gold, orange and red.  Apple harvest and orchards to celebrate harvest...
Fields of pumpkin in hues from green to orange, ready for October.

Fall was originally called “harvest” in the 1200s, but by 300 years later people were using the term “autumn,” from the old French word autompne. Fall, from “fall of the leaf,” gained popularity in the 16th century. The British eventually chose to continue favoring “autumn” while North American explorers -- later,  used “fall".

Seattle Windstorm

Saturday windstorm in the Seattle area left residents without power and destruction as wind and rain hit the area.  Jesse Tam observed fallen branches, trees and light signals out while driving back from the city. About 463,000 people across the Pacific Northwest lost power due to the high-speed winds, which were up to 63 mph in Washington.

The Olympic national park, roads, highway and places closed for safety due to the falling branches and trees.  Some of the strongest winds will be recorded for the month of August.

Seward park will be filled with out of town and local visitors to see the exciting hydro races on the water. Many private boats are watching on the log boom viewing the stunts of the Blue Angels. The shows are amazing and I-90 bridge will be closed to traffic during their performances.  Families will lined along the bridge on bikes or walk to see their fly overs, you will definitely hear the roaring of the planes overhead.    http://jessetam.com/

More Americans Will Travel

How quickly summer arrived and Americans with travel plans will increase with July fourth ahead. Suggestions with Jesse Tam are road trips from Seattle metropolitan along Interstate 5 north to Canada or head south on I-5 to Oregon along the coast and into California.  Cheaper gas is allowing us to spend pennies saved at the pump on other activities.

A stronger economy and jobs is helping to boost the number of planned getaways over what is traditionally the most traveled holiday period of the summer.  If the roads seem a little more congested, it's because they are. Among those traveling, nearly 85% are hitting the highway, a 0.7% over last year.  Hotel prices and airfares will increase slightly this year.

What are you summertime plans?  Whether it is a short getaway or flight across the skies, explore and take time to see the world.  Learn from each experience new sights. A place to refresh from the daily life is viewing the Olympic mountains and Peninsula.     http://jessetam.com/

If You Can Dream It

You are never too old to find your dream. Jesse Tam, the goals in each path we travel will have curves along the road we lead before reaching the goal.  Do not allow challenges in life to become a stumbling blocks. There are few straight roads in life, but let the bumps and winding path become our learning curves.

Reach out to others, friends or family and get the answers and support in realizing your dream. Never allow obstacles to be in the way of reaching higher, be persistent and try again and again.  You are never too old or late to start another goal in life unless you select to give up.  A positive attitude and outlook.

YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO SET ANOTHER GOAL
OR TO DREAM A NEW DREAM.

C. S. LEWIS

The greatest success in life is not giving up and continue to find all the avenues to your dream and solution.  It is hard work and labor with many hours, months and some years before our goal can be reached.

Six Qualities of a Leader

Mentors others for the past 25 years in the Greater Seattle and Pacific Rim area, Jesse Tam is asked this question frequently. What is a Leader and can we obtain these skills?  Some people believe that leaders are born, while others can learn to become great leaders.  Here are a few traits of a natural leader from some of my associates and clients.

We are all leaders in one way or another, one needs to find that unique gift in themselves. You may be talented in the arts, music, creative skills, math, sales or natural athletics; but take the steps to follow though on an idea or project once started. Taking the time to process from beginning to final stage and not quitting regardless of the outcome shows leadership.

How many of these qualities do you have?  Confidence, Commitment, Positive Attitude, Intuition, Creativity and Ability to Inspire

            Six Qualities of a Leader
  1. Confidence - believe in yourself
  2. Commitment - follow though on your goal
  3. Positive Attitude - stick with positive people
  4. Intuition - trust your own judgment
  5. Creativity - use your own ideas
  6. Ability to Inspire - work as a team
Leadership skills and motivation - maintain a positive attitude - Jesse Tam

Never Give Up

Each one of us had a dream or a passion in our lifetime. The passion for Jesse Tam was becoming an entrepreneur, starting several financial institutions and being outside of the box. What was your passion? Follow the beat to your own drums and not to others. Lead and open paths of opportunities for others and minorities. Don't fear venturing outside of your comfort zone.  Start by taking a few small steps at the beginning and soon they will become giant leaps.    http://jessetam.com/

Be Bold - Be Brave - Believe and follow the dream.  You can accomplished the challenge if you dream it. Continue to try again it you don't succeed at the beginning. Clean the slate and start fine tuning.  " Follow your dream, never give up".  Remember to reach higher to achieve to the top.

Imagine Under the Dome

Tropical Fish
Jesse Tam Seattle's Waterfront for family and friends  is a great places to see.  Looking for a place to cheer your rainy days and winter blues?  Here's a few clues to see if you can guest where you may find peace and a tranquil day.  It's an indoor location where all ages are welcome and would have a fantastic day, warm and out of the rain.  You can sit under a large dome and enjoy the afternoon or just take a quick stroll near the waterfront bank.

It is the local Seattle Aquarium, a short distance from downtown Seattle.  There will be hourly events held from feeding the otters, educational sessions and this coming weekend February 14 - 22 is Octopus Week.  Looking for some place different on Valentine's Day, Octopus Blind Date - February 14th.  Don't miss sitting under the round dome and observe the sea life, relax and just imagine you're under the sea.

Seattle Aquarium the regal octopus
Round off the afternoon or evening with a simple bite along the waterfront. Construction is still making it difficult to park and selection of eatery is limited, but worth the visit this time of year. Stroll the shops that are open and take a peek inside and grab a quick bite all in one location.

Jesse Tam  remembers the Chamber a events held for business networking in Seattle.  The Aquarium is both for wonderful business socials and families. Remember to take the time and enjoy, balance work life.  It is important to refresh the body and soul.

New Resolutions and Education

Time to plan, Jesse Tam suggestions from recent visitors and friends from abroad. It is the time to
think about college or high school applications. Students entering private schools will have the opportunity to attend open houses and listen to alumni. College applications and tests must be completed for admissions for fall, some requiring essays and references. Take time to visit the places your are interested in attending.  Plan campus tours during the school year to obtain the full experience and speak to the professors, it will make an impact in your future.

There are college fairs and information online when you need to search in making that important decision. Washington state has a high school program called Running Start where high school students may attend community college during the 12th grade.  What a great way to earn college credits and save money for some students.  Make the choice that fits your personality and interest.
