Traditions to Remember

What a year to remember as the month of December brings many traditions for us to share.  Jesse Tam, it's the season filled with holidays and things we remember from sharing with our friends and families.  The late night movies, playing in the snow, camping outdoors or maybe in the backyard.  Oh, those are just a few of the things from way back in time.  Many of the things we enjoy and look forward to this holiday season are finally back and open.  We can go to outdoor and indoor sports events after these were not available for over a year.

The fun holiday lights and a brief trip over the snowy pass to Leavenworth is always a great time to see the decorations and festive weekend to enjoy the snow, music, food and sleigh rides acoss the field.  Closer to Seattle and greater Eastside are Zoolights, music for the holidays at Westlake Center, plays and Snowflake Lane reopens with live entertainment for all ages every evening beginning at 7 pm.

Take time and make a list for the month filled with activities and spend a few hours bundle up and go outdoors.  Keep the spirit with jolly good cheers and enjoy the season...

Resilience

Resilience, it takes a strong individual and supporting community, family and friends to keep us going during a fall or downturn event.  Jesse Tam, there are always challenges in our daily lives but it's how you turn them into lessons learned and find solutions to move forward.  Stay focused on the goals, write ideas and keep striving to make it the best and improve each time.

Here's an article on winning the gold... https://bit.ly/2Wzrrrv

"When Suni Lee won gold in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gymnatics all-around competition Thursday, her Hmong community also won.

When Lee stood on the Olympic platform to accept a gold medal in front of the world, Thao said if felt like the Hmong people were finally seen.

The Hmong community has rallied around Lee's victory, posting congratulatory messages and videos on social media.  In one video, Lee's parents and community are seen shouting and crying as they react to her win."

What Do You Appreciate?

Our daily tasks with work-life and schedule doesn't always allow one to appreciate what is in front of us.  Spend a few minutes to reflect on others, nature, friends, family... write something that was postive or made you want to change that day. It's never too late to begin, just start and stay on task. "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it"  Confucius

Making Changes and Goals

Many of you have been working from home office with Zoom meetings for about a year with contactless meetings and gatherings.  Jesse Tam, staying in touch with social organizations and challenges without person to person meetings may seem more difficult for some of us.  Work, professional organizations and mentoring continues with various methods of internet meetings online or brief phone chats.  There are many ways we've learned to adapt to this different time and continue to make progress ahead.

We are all leaders in one way or another, one needs to find that unique gift in themselves. You may be talented in the arts, music, creative skills, math, sales or natural athletics; but take the steps to follow though on an idea or project once started. Taking the time to process from beginning to final stage and not quitting regardless of the outcome shows leadership.

How many of these qualities do you have?  Confidence, Commitment, Positive Attitude, Intuition, Creativity and Ability to Inspire

  Six Qualities of a Leader
  1. Confidence - believe in yourself
  2. Commitment - follow though on your goals
  3. Positive Attitude - stick with positive people
  4. Intuition - trust your own judgment
  5. Creativity - use your own ideas
  6. Ability to Inspire - work as a team

Celebrating Spring Festival

It's Spring Festival or also the Lunar Chinese New Year of the Ox for some families.  Jesse Tam, celebrating in Seattle will be different this year.  We are following socail distancing with take out or cooking more at home with just a few immediate family members.  The traditional dragon dance parades in our community will be missed.  The traditional lucky money is still given to our families and friends with sweets, fruit and the well wishes for the year.

Here's some lucky foods to eat during the Chinese New Year - fish to increase prosperity, dumpling and spring rolls for wealth, sweet rice balls to bring family happiness, longivity noodles for happiness and longivity, good fortune fruit for fullness and weath and glutinous rice cake for higher income or position.  Making dumpling is a fun project for families and friends throughout the year.  The fillings can be made with pork, shrimp or veggies to suit your tastes.  They can be boiled in water or pan fried and made ahead for those with busy schedules.

Flowers are also very popular this time of year with beautiful orchids, orange trees, jade plant, money tree, lucky bamboo, peonies, peach blossoms...Stay connected  https://jesset28.blogspot.com/ thanks for reading.
